Graduate Funding

Outside of a research assistantship or teaching assistantship, there are a number of internal and external grants available to graduate students to supplement or provide income. This is an incomplete list of the ones that we know of and resources to help you get them - if you know of any that are missing from this list please email us at csgsa@colorado.edu so we can add them!

CU Resources for Fellowship an Grant Proposals

  • CARTS Graduate Research Fellowship Workshop
    • Starts in Fall semester and continues until GRFP deadline
    • Specific to the NSF GRFP Fellowship
    • Provides mentor who will review your application materials
  • Bagels & Bytes Event Series
    • Check out the CSGSA calendar for our new Bagels & Bytes Series every second Monday from 9-11AM in ECES 112. We provide breakfast and a writing-related workshop.
  • Graduate Writing Center
    • Grad+ Writing Workshops - includes weekly Write Ins, 4-day writing retreats at the beginning of the semester and one time events
    • Individual sessions - walk in appointments or scheduled appointments for a project, 50 minute online appointment for scheduled sessions
    • Can apply for recurring sessions for a longer term project as well

Apple Scholars in AI/ML Department nominations begin in Spring Semester, Applications Due early Fall Semester Apple Scholars website Must be nominated by the university - the university selects 3 applicants to put forward. Must be in your third year of the PhD.
Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship Department nominations begin in Spring Semester, applications due mid-Summer Microsoft Research PHD Fellowship Website Must be starting the 3rd year of your PhD - department nominates candidates
NVIDIA Graduate Fellowship Computer Science & Engineering Applications due September 9 2022 NVIDIA Website Must have completed first year of PHD. Must be available to complete a summer internship prior to the start of their fellowship year
Google PhD Fellowship Department nominations Fall semester Google website Must be nominated by the university - must be in your 3rd year of the PHD, must have completed graduate coursework by the time the fellowship begins.
